Our guys have so much stuff and technology to fight with. The solders of WW II had so little of anything (read "The Old Breed" by Eugene Sledge). Sometimes, too much stuff can lead to the "turtle effect". This can happen when you fall over and weigh too much or have awkwardly positioned gear that prevents or hinders you from getting up. Either way you definitely loose agility. Where I'm from... you can always tell the new guy from the old dogs... old dogs have learned not to carry as much, the new guys are covered in gear. If you can't eat it, shoot it, drink it or communicate with it then you probably don't need it.
Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice... but for those love, time is an eternity.

FOR MY DENTIST
Yes, this is not very funny but it is a true statement. I'm always afraid my dentist will catch me in the grocery store with all the junk I eat... I do love sugar!

NIGHT(MARE) DIVING
Here is my thought on my first night dive in saltwater. Every monster and alien in every movie I have ever seen is just ouside of arms reach. Also, it's hard to imagine but closing your eyes makes it worse!

THE BOYS OF FALL
I have never been accused of being good at sports (somehow that even includes sports related video games) but this is a great song and the motivational words at the beginning and end translate into many other endeavors. GAMECOCK fans look for the Carolina stadium in the song... marker 4:17 (I can't bring myself to write the coach's name... starts with an S).

CRIME SCENE AT THE CROSS
I am a christian, although sometimes not the best example of one. I initially found this picture somewhat disturbing. But I think it's OK to imagine what would have happened if a "SWAT" team had showed up to save Christ. Would we allow someone to be torchered like that in today's times and do nothing about it? In the movie "The Last Temtation of Christ" (William Defoe) there was a similiar instance, but int the end he (Jesus) did what he had to do.
DOG JUMP
Helicopter-casting (being deployed from a helicopter into the water) is a lot of fun but just slightly on the dangerous side because the rotor wash can really cause problems on the surface. I'm not sure how this dog is going to handle things though. Enlarge the picture and notice the muzzle.

COMPASSION OF DOGS
Simply Amazing !!!
According to the Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support Facebook page, both dogs have been rescued, one is in the shelter while the injured one is staying at a vet clinic.

MVA (MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT) SURVIVOR
If you work in Police/Fire/EMS long enough you will find yourself in a situation like this. Compassion is one of the greatest human emotions!

BAT CATCHER
This guys name is Mith Davie. When a player threw his bat into the crowd (there really is no excuse for that) Mitch caught it, possibly preventing many injuries. Amazing. Make sure to notice that he didn't even spill his beer.

"TO SERVE CATS"
One of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes is "To Serve Man". Of course the best line is "it's a cook book" (I also like "Soylent Green is made of people" but that's different movie).

TOURNIQUETS AND LEGOS
I recently took an advanced class on the application of tourniquets. They hurt, but they work when needed. Anyway, notice the poor guy in this picture missing a leg (it has been my expirence that the one missing a head can't be helped... LOL).

JOE VS. THE VOLCANO
You would to have to have seen the movie to remember these lines but I like them and try to think about them when life seems to be falling into a volcano.
"My father says that almost the whole world is asleep. Everybody you know. Everybody you see. Everybody you talk to. He says that only a few people are awake and they live in a state of constant total amazement".
"Dear God, whose name I do not know - thank you for my life. I forgot how BIG (the world is)... thank you. Thank you for my life".
