It was my senior year in high school. I remember that I was at lunch when the announcement was made over the PA system (I was thinking about how I'd like to be somewhere else... I know I was thinking that because that's what I always thought in HS :) . Even then I was big shuttle fan and felt the loss of life and disappointment (I've seen three launches since then... REALLY COOL !). Only two more to go.
I like this picture because it doesn't look posed (they had just finished training...look at the hair).
