ON DEATH

People die everyday.

They always have and always will.

No one can cheat death... the rich, the poor, the powerful and the unknown.

I accept this, yet I always become frustrated when someone famous dies and the media speaks of how great they were, how much they changed the world or how life on earth will be tougher without them.

What about the person whose entire family was killed in a car crash or whose loved one was shot and killed by some soulless creature for no reason other than that they were in a place at the wrong time.

How are they to feel any better about their loss when local news prefers to spend ten minutes on college football rather than inform the public about their horrible incident?

What about the military family whose loved one dies in a war zone far from home?

Who speaks for these people?

NOTE:  I know this post is neither science fiction related nor funny but it's just how I feel this morning.
